Well Denaby Peer Support Groups Are Now On Microsoft Teams!

Before lockdown began, Well Denaby (Doncaster) ran face to face peer support groups. In April, the team launched the peer support groups online for any persons with Diabetes, Fibromyalgia and chronic pain or COPD. COVID-19 has brought a lot of changes to people’s lives which can be hard to manage, especially if they are already living with a long term condition. Well Denaby (Doncaster) are trying to keep the new and existing patients connected during the lockdown measures through the free, fortnightly online groups to help them find ways to improve and maintain their wellbeing. Each session has a key speaker which is requested by the attendees to ensure they are patient led. In previous weeks, the groups have seen a range of specialist within each condition such as diabetic dietician, IAPT pacing advice for Fibromyalgia and for COPD, a talk from British lung foundation as well as a respiratory nurse and physio. Additionally the groups have seen IAPT long term condition team services, PCN pharmacist, advise on sleep, meditation and Hallcross medical centre.
