Green bin collections will return later this month. Her's some important information from Doncaster Council.
From Tuesday 23 June onwards, we’ll be collecting them on a MONTHLY basis to start with. This is to help us clear the backlog across the borough whilst ensuring our crews can maintain physical distancing rules. Here’s some important things to know:
You can expect a letter through your door soon providing the date your collections will resume. You can also check www.doncaster.gov.uk/bins to see how this affects your usual collection day and when to put your bin out. The first round of collections won’t finish until mid-July so please be patient.
We appreciate that bins will be slightly heavier than usual, but please sure your bin is not too heavy. There is a risk it may break when lifted onto the vehicle, and if staff think it is too heavy to lift safely it won’t be collected. If you are unsure, please take some waste out. Please don’t leave an extra waste at the side of your bin as we won’t collect it. If you do have excess green waste, you can take them to one of our HWRCs (www.doncaster.gov.uk/HWRC) or compost it in your garden
Bins might be collected at a different time of day than usual, so to avoid a missed collection please ensure you place your bin out for collection by 7am on your collection day. The majority of our residents have been incredibly patient during this difficult time so thank you for bearing with us. Please allow us to get this free service back up and running with many new staff before we can then go back to fortnightly collections.
